The Global Freedom and Justice Movement
The Global Freedom and Justice Movement seeks to transcend the divisions among people by uniting all people of good will in a common cause to bring lasting peace to our world, guided by the principles of nonviolence, freedom and justice, and environmental responsibility.
The Global Freedom and Justice Movement seeks to change life on Earth to a peaceful, just and compassionate existence for all people in an environmentally sustainable world society. Through commitment to a shared set of values based on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the Global Freedom and Justice Movement provides the means for individuals and organizations that are committed to peace and environmental responsibility to focus and create the collective power of a singular majority. By uniting the people of good will in a common cause bound by a simple but powerful set of shared values, we will grow in membership, one person at time, to become a powerful force for peace in all communities, countries and nations on Earth. We seek nonviolent revolution to overthrow the failed ideologies that have created a world on the brink of disaster, concentrating wealth in the hands of a few while billions of people live in abject poverty.
In democratic nations, we seek to become a political majority that will influence elections and change policy to Freedom and Justice purposes. We will support political candidates that commit to our peace loving and environmentally responsible principles. Slowly but surely, we will replace politicians that do not commit to Freedom and Justice with those who have made that commitment. When peace loving politicians provide majority influence in a government, that nation will then become a role model and leader for peace, justice and sustainability in the world community. We recognize the primary tools of nonviolent revolution as agitation, education, legislation and litigation.
When a majority of nations are committed to peace, they will be empowered to collectively work to eliminate barriers to change in less enlightened places through diplomacy and incentives. A world order that balances resources and needs fairly among all people in the most efficient, just and environmentally responsible way possible will become a reality. When nations pursue enlightened policy with the same level of energy and commitment that in the past has been applied to destructive forces, we will find solutions to the most difficult problems that face humanity: an end to all wars, an end to world hunger, and an end to environmental destruction through responsible and sustainable environmental policy.
The Global Freedom and Justice Movement encourages all peoples of the world to join our cause. To be a member and diplomat for this organization, an individual must pledge to support these three core values:
Violence is never an acceptable means to resolve disputes of any kind, including disputes over territory, ideology, material goods or natural resources. Achievement of goals and objectives must always be accomplished by nonviolent means. We shall be guided by the teachings of Mohandas K. Gandhi and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in the application of nonviolent principles in the implementation of our agenda.
Freedom and Justice
We embrace the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (http://www.un.org/en/documents/udhr/), adopted by the General Assembly of the United Nations on 10 December 1948, as the fundamental and absolute basis for all law, at all levels from local to international.
All people are unique and different. We recognize and support the right of each person to develop in intellectual, artistic and spiritual endeavors to the fullest extent of their skills and abilities, free from threats and intimidation, provided they harm no one else. We embrace diversity and support equal rights for all people. We assert that distinctions between people of any kind, such as race, color, sex, sexual orientation, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status are irrational and destructive. Only when all people are empowered to develop to the fullest extent of their abilities will we truly understand and benefit from the full power and potential of humanity.
To empower all people, we seek a world order that produces the instrumental goods to maintain the life and health of all human beings by the most efficient, just and environmentally responsible means possible. The achievement of wealth is not a just end in and of itself. The accumulation of wealth to benefit a few through the exploitation of people and the destruction of the environment is immoral. It is the moral responsibility of those who control the factors of production, commerce or resources to do so with enlightened commitment to socially and environmentally responsible practices, including the best practices of fair trade and environmental stewardship.
We must stop the destruction of our planet and achieve an environmentally responsible and sustainable world society. Business as usual in our present time is no more rational than standing in the path of an onrushing train and not moving out of the way. In our present state of affairs, mankind is to the planet earth as cancer is to the human body. It is a moral imperative that we do everything in our power to slow and stop pollution, hasten environmentally sustainable society and environmental remediation. It is never acceptable to enrich a person, organization or nation by destroying the environment. We commit to observe environmentally responsible principles to the fullest extent possible, and work for better alternatives wherever possible. We believe that a strategic commitment to wind, wave, solar, geothermal and other sustainable forms of energy can make fossil fuels unnecessary. We commit to finding the best solutions to environmental problems through an unwavering devotion to science and technology; looking to the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change as the best source of unbiased factual information.
